Are you prepared for the “fiscal cliff” headed our way on December 31? It’s real and you better be prepared.

I attended the famed Milken Institute Global Conference last week in Los Angeles, and the buzz phrase was the “fiscal cliff” America is facing as the uncontrolled spending and deficits mount. The overall mood of the Wall Street contingent this year was “uncertainty in the U.S.”

Last week Don Luskin, famed investment advisor on CNBC’s Kudlow Report, added another boomshell. In Wall Street Journal, he warned: “On December 31, trillions of dollars in tax cuts will expire, trillions more in new tax hikes under ObamaCare will kick in, and a trillion in spending cuts will begin.”

The “fiscal cliff” is coming much sooner than you expect, and you better be prepared. Chaos could result, raising the specter of serious unrest and protests in major cities across the country, and another collapse on Wall Street.

FREEDOMFEST 2012 UPDATE: 7 GREAT DEBATES!

John Mackey is right. FreedomFest addresses the major issues of the day in the form of debates that are both educational and entertaining.

This year, we have the following debates scheduled:

#1 “Wall Street on Trial” is our Big Debate this year in our traditional format of a mock trial. It’s always the highlight of FreedomFest. This time Steve Moore (WSJ) will be the defending attorney against Robert Frank (NYTimes columnist). The Journal vs. the Times! Steve Forbes and Peter Schiff will be star witnesses for the defense and John Mackey (believe it or not!) will be one of the witnesses for the prosecution The sparks will fly.

#2 This being a presidential election year, and with Mitt Romney, a Mormon, the Republican candidate, we are having a unique debate, “Latter-Day Liberty: Should Mormons be Conservative, Libertarian or Social Democrats?” With Paul Mero, president of the Sutherland Institute in Utah, representing the conservative side; Connor Boyack, author of “Latter-day Liberty” making the case for libertarianism; and Rory Reid, a former Clark County commissioner and son of Harry Reid, making the case for social democrat. Don’t miss this unique event.

#3 Foreign policy is always a hot topic so don’t miss “Sir Winston Churchill: 20th Century’s Greatest Statesman or a Warmonger?” T his debate will pit John Browne, top analyst for EuroPacific Capital and former member of the House of Parliament under Lady Thatcher, for Churchill, and Anthony Gregory, research editor of the Independent Institute, against.

#4 Charles Murray has a controversial new book out called “Coming Apart.” Michael Shermer (Skeptic magazine, Scientific American columnist) and Gene Epstein (economics editor, Barron’s) will try to take Murray’s arguments apart, and then we will have Charles Murray’s response. Can’t wait.

#5 Michael Shermer will also be back for a big philosophical debate with Harry Veryser, professor of economics at U of Detroit – Mercy and a devote Catholic on “The Philosophical Debate of the Century: Is Man a Machine, Animal, or Unique Human Being?”

#6 In healthcare, one of the most controversial subjects is vaccines. Dr. Julian Whitaker of the Whitaker Wellness Center will debate Dr. Jonathan Baktar, president of the Vaccine Center in Nevada, on “Vaccines: Good or Bad?”. Anthem Film Festival will also be showing the documentary, “The Greater Good” on this subject.

#7 We couldn’t plan FreedomFest during an election year without hosting a “Presidential Debate!” Our closing banquet on Saturday night will bring the house down when Barack Obama and Mitt Romney (Politicos Comedy Brigade) go at each other in their first debate!

The Feds Prepare for Social Unrest . . . Shouldn’t You?

“Crisis in America: A Call to Action.”

These are scary times, and that is why we are having a special “emergency” session at FreedomFest entitled “Crisis in America: A Call to Action.” We expect another record crowd (over 1,000 have already signed up) and are on our way to selling out.

Now, more than ever, your freedoms and hard-earning wealth are in danger.

The Department of Homeland Security just ordered 450 million rounds of special “hollow point” .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK. The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer “optimum penetration for terminal performance.”

In addition, the Department has an open bid to stockpile rifle ammo, up to 175 million rounds of .223 caliber ammo, the same used by NATO forces.

Why? The answer is clear: The Federal government is gearing up for the unprecedented social unrest (worse than Greece) when Washington is forced to impose “austerity” plans next year after the November elections. Either that or face runaway inflation to pay for the costly welfare programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and massive unfunded liabilities.

Protestors could be denied basic civil rights. The new National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) takes away basic rights of American citizens who are considered “terrorists” or “enemy combatants” — they can be held indefinitely without trial and without legal representation. (President Obama later said he would “never” impose this act on Americans. Don’t bet on it.)

The Obama administration is getting desperate. As part of the federal-aid highway bill, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) has added a provision that denies anyone who owes the IRS more than $50,000 to be denied a passport. (Senate Bill 1813 is now in the House.)

The TSA is expanding rapidly its power. It’s not enough for swarms of government agents to invade our privacy with enhanced pat downs at airports, but they are also now engaging in random car stops on highways in America.

And this just in: What if you go to jail as a dissident or enemy of the state? In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled last week that police can strip search anyone who is taken to jail. According to the High Court decision, jailers may perform invasive strip searches on people arrested even for “minor offenses.” This travesty of justice was made in the case of Albert Florence, a black man who was arrested in New Jersey on a warrant for an unpaid fine, even though he had paid it and had proof on him when he was arrested. The guards force him to strip naked and expose his mouth, nose, ears and genitals to a visual search in case he was hiding anything. Who cast the deciding majority vote? Justice Anthony Kennedy, the man who will decide the fate of ObamaCare in June.

Senator Rand Paul to Speak

Dear FreedomFest lovers,

We are delighted to announce that Senator Rand Paul will join us for FreedomFest 2012.

He had such a great time last year that he has decided to come back this year, with his wife Kelley, and they are planning to attend all 3 days!

Senator Paul will speak on “New Threats to Your Liberty” including an update on his plan to rein in the out-of-control Homeland Security Department and TSA. (His run-in with the TSA got considerable press recently.) He will also be involved in some panels and attending other sessions, plus holding a private fundraiser reception and dinner with supporters.

Besides all the panels, debates,and luncheons, they will also attend the gala Saturday night banquet which will feature the first presidential debate between President Obama (played by Reggie Brown) and challenger Mitt Romney (played by Mike Cote). The big debate will be followed by a non-stop MoTown dance band!

Mock Constitutional Convention — another first at FreedomFest. This year we will have special sessions where attendees will be voting delegates to our own Constitutional Convention. The first session will be a debate on the pro’s and con’s of the US Constitution; in the second session, delegates will propose amendments to the Constitution. If they can muster two thirds majority vote, the winning amendments will be read by the President of the Convention at a general session. There’s no extra charge for this special event, but you must sign up in advance.
